Peter Holland, Interviewed by The Daily Record

Over the past four years, Maryland has seen a significant rise in data breaches. The number of notices received by the Attorney General’s office increased from 50-100 per month before 2020 to 120-180 per month, representing a 41% to 55% increase.

Maryland news outlet  The Daily Record asked Peter Holland to comment on the increase in data breaches, identity theft, and the current state of fraudulent activity. Click on the link below to access the article, but beware, the full article is only available to paid subscribers.

As the Holland Law Firm advocates for enforcing laws like the Maryland Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA), Peter has emerged as one of the trusted authorities on identity theft, credit reporting, and consumer protection law

For decades, Peter and The Holland Law Firm team have pursued credit reporting agencies, unscrupulous businesses, and scammers to help victims piece their lives together after their sensitive data has been jeopardized and their credit identity abused.

As data breaches become more frequent and the use of artificial intelligence grows, the need for robust privacy protections and data minimization increases. As Peter explains in the interview, he hopes that Maryland will continue to lead in data privacy, fostering greater awareness of the amount of personal information collected and the serious consequences of identity theft.
